Cape Maclear
Hello once again, this time from Cape maclear in Malawi, where I have just been returned from a great dive in the lake. The weather is great (28 degrees or so) and the Beer is cold and I'm waiting for a big beef burger to arriveJ I havn't written anything for 3 weeks now but that was because i was just having to much fun... But here is a quick recap:
Peter arrived in Kigalli and we set off to see some parks in Tanzania. We first went to Serengetti where we saw some huge heards of migrating zebra and also spent the night, and then we went to Ngorogoro. Ngorogoro was truly amazing, with huge amounts of wildebeest , zebra and bufalo. We also saw lots of hyena and finally LION. Yes amazingly we saw four lion right next to the car. But unfortunately they were taking there daily power nap and did not move an inch, ah well at least I saw them putty tats!
So after ngorogoro we traveld on to pangani beach resort which is about 250km's north of Dar es Sallam. Here we spent two nights and on day two we went snorkenling and had a romantic lunch on a private beach with the three of us...
Then it was the end of Peter's quick holiday and we had to drive to Dar to drop him at the airport. After a traffic jam that lasted 3 hours we had some dinner at the airport and said our goodbye's.
Peter I want to thank you for comming we really had a good timeJ
So after dropping Peter we went to Mikadi beach and and spent a relaxing two days at the beach.
Then on Friday it was off to the airport again to drop maurice(he went back to holland for a week) and pick up Jude for a week in Zanzibar. Once again we encountered the dreaded Dar es salaam traffic jam and Maurice ended up getting out of the car 6 km's before the airport and stopping someone on a motorbike to bring him to the airport. A good desicion because I only arrived at the airport about an hour before his flight was due to leave! But i was on time to pick up Jude. The next day my new travelingt companion and I took the ferry to Zanzibar. Zanzibar was awsome, a really beutifull island with white palmtree beaches and a blue warm sea. Just like a good holiday should be.
On the island we decided to rent a motorbike to get around. Even though I don't have a motorbike license, this was not a problem the guy who rented it to us said but that was unfortunately not true and two days later I had to bribe a policman to look the other way. Don't you just love Africa...
So after a really good week(thanks babe) we headed back to the mainland where I got to go ( once agiain) to the airport to drop off Jude and pick up Maurice, this time however I used a TukTuk to take us there and back(No third time traffic jam for me). Jude got a 'good'seat with no problems and then maurice and I returned to Mikadi beach for one night and then we set off the next day heading west for malawi.
Malawi is really Africa for beginners, the people are friendly, roads are good and the lake and surrounding views are spectaculair! A better holliday destination would be hard to find in Africa. We have stayed at a few places on the lake but where we are now is hard to beat as far as scenery goes. But unfortunately all things come to an end and tomorrow it's time once again to pack up the hippo and head for Zambia and the Vic. Falls.
The trip has changed in my opinion as well, where in the beginning it was all about getting the car to South Africa, now it's about using the car to see great things on our way to Africa. A small difference but a huge impact on the way I feel about the trip. The difficulties we had seem like a distant memory, and hopefully will stay that way. But now my burger has arrived and I'm going to enjoy it with an ice cold beer. Till later.

Tuktuks in Afrika? Ik geloof er helemaal niets van, Lance! ;)
Laterz
Thoroughly enjoying your travels albeit vicariously Lance & Maurice. We so appreciate the difference you have found in your approach to your trip - it has always to be about the journey not the destination or it becomes a drag. The good thing though is hopefully the very best may be at the end if you end up in Hout Bay? :-)
Fabulous stories from both of you. Keep it up and it is what life should be: an enjoyable journey with fantastic experiences.
Hey Lance, ek is sommer baie jaloers op julle, man! Enjoy the rest of your trip to Sunny South Africa!
Mooie verhalen!
