Hi All,

I thought thatI would post a little blog about our propossed route to South Africa.

Starting in the East of Holland in a small town called Hengelo (Sorry Maurice but it is just not that big

Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatie, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey,Syria, Jordania, Israel, Egypt.

We have to reach the south of Egypt (Aswan)at the latest onthe 27th of Feb.The reason for this date is that we have to catch the ferry which leaves on the 28th. And unfortunatelydue to this being Africa it leavesonly once a week and is the only way to get to Sudan.....So it may verywell be that we will have an extra week in Egypt to study the Pyramids or other attractions.

Hopefully after taking a liitle more than 2 weeks to drive almost 5000km's !! we will arrive in Sudan our routing will then take us to: Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Ruwanda (Gorilla trekking is on the agenda here) and on to Tanzania to visit some parks and hopefully climb Mount Killimanjaro reffered to as....Killi. If this does happen we will have earned a good earned rest in Zanzibar where Judy will be visiting us, and probably be bringing some landrover spares as well!

After our one week holliday we will set off again heading towards Malawi then Zambia(Rafting the zambezi) Botswana and on to Namibia for our last trek south to South Africa and Cape town. Many will think that this is where the adventure ends but as the blog is called 'The long way home' We will have to driveanother 1300km's to reach Benoni (my home town and not the biggest either).

After this and with only a few days to go before we both have to be back at work we will be driving to Randburg to drop off the car for a future buyer. The sales person being none other then my dad seeing as he has a little experiance in these matters

So that is our propossed route but thiscould change just as quickly as theZimbabwian dollardevalues!
